The Iyego Farmer’s Co-operative Society is a well organised group of farmers in the Kangema Township of the Murang’a District. They grow some of thehighest quality coffee in Kenya partially due to their acidic red loamy soil which provides ideal growing conditions for Arabica. Grown at between 1500 and 1700 metres above sea level, the coffee is handpicked, fully washed and sun dried on elevated tables before being taken to the Nairobi Coffee Exchange to be auctioned. A slightly smaller screen size than the Kenya AA, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in flavour. A bright cup with a big juicy acidity and hints of lemon and blackcurrant and a spicy finish. Best brewed in a cafetiere or filter and served black to accentuate the juicy fruit notes.
