Uganda Wugar Bukonzo Co-op
White chocolate, raspberry and grape£3.50
- Variety:SL14 & SL28
We are very happy to introduce our very first Ugandan coffee. Women are a vital part of farming in the Bukonzo Joint Cooperative Union and have always been recognized as such. The BJCU were founded in 1999 as a microfinance society to help alleviate rural poverty in Kasese, with women making up 98% of its membership. The BJCU encouraged men and women farmers to discuss for the first time how work was shared between husband and wife and develop long term financial plans that involved heavily investing in coffee quality. This has resulted in coffee yields, coffee quality and family income increasing. When you taste it, expect a creamy white chocolate sweetness followed by hints of raspberry and white grape acidity. At its best when drank black, but a touch of milk brings out the white chocolate flavours. Most suited to brewing in a cafetiere, filter or aeropress.
